The most romantic place she never wanted to be . . .

Pepper Knight moved to Everland, Georgia, as step one in her plan for a successful legal career. But after this big-city gal's plans go awry, going home with her tail between her legs isn't an option. So when the town vet-and her sexy new neighbor-offers Pepper a temporary dog-walking job, she jumps at the chance. No one needs to know that man's best friend is her worst nightmare . . . or that Everland's hot animal whisperer leaves her panting.

The last thing Rhett Valentine wants is to be the center of small-town gossip. After his first love left him at the altar, he's been there, done that. These days, life is simple, just the way he likes it. But sultry southern nights get complicated once sparks fly between him and the knockout next door. When she proposes a sexy, secret fling-all the deliciousness and none of the prying neighbors-it seems too good to be true. And it is. Because Pepper's determined to leave Love Street, and when she goes, she just might take his heart with her . . .

Lia Riley has done it again. It Happened on Love Street brings everything about quaint, but quirky, small town life and mixes it with characters that you’ll not only fall in love with, but want you to wish they were real so you could befriend them yourself.

Pepper Knight moved to Everland with the promise of a job. A job that was supposed to set her up for something better in life, a job that was the safe bet. Sadly, it was anything but because she finds out on her first day the offer has been rescinded. Feeling down on her luck she makes her way back to the house she’s renting and serendipitously runs into her new neighbor and one of Everland’s most eligible bachelors, Rhett Valentine. Sensing Pepper needs help he offers her a job walking the town’s dogs. She jumps at the chance to earn money, even if she’s wasting her NYU law degree, and more importantly, her fear of dogs.

Left jilted at the alter years ago, Rhett has no need for romance in his life. All he wants to do is open a pet rescue and stay out of the town’s gossip radar. All that changes when pepper moves onto Love Street. He’s immediately taken by her. She’s charming, beautiful, and a ball of contradictions he wants to unravel.

Of course when you’re not looking for love it just happens to find you. Pepper and Rhett concoct a plan that involves them not falling in love, a plan that states they’ll part ways when it’s time. Their relationship is only to be a fling. We all know what they say about the best laid plans though, and in this instance, it’s no different.

I absolutely loved these two. They have such amazing love and empathy for those around them. It just made sense that these two, no matter their differences, would find each other and fall in love. Then there’s Everland. I’m not a fan of small towns in regards to living in one. Like Pepper I’m a city girl at heart, but there’s just something about the wait Lia writes small town life that I just love. Everland has just the right amount of quirkiness to even out the drama.

It Happened on Love Street had be swooning over charming southerners and funny as hell Yankees. Lia created a world where it’s okay to be who you are and to find what you never thought you needed in the least likely of places. From nosy neighbors to the Scabble gang at the local dog park, you can’t help but fall in love with everything Everland. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book because I can’t wait to see what happens next.

About Lia Riley

Lia Riley

Lia Riley writes offbeat romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments.

A British literature fanatic at heart, Lia considers Mr. Darcy and Edward Rochester as her fictional boyfriends. Her very patient husband doesn't mind. Much. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about as-of-yet unwritten books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. Right now, Icelandic hot springs and Scottish castles sound pretty sweet.

She and her family live in Northern California.
